Jorge Segura

Many thanks to Patti Abshire and Bank of America

Marine SGT Jorge Segura, his wife Stefani and their two daughters were surprised with a new Texas Sentinels Foundation mortgage-free, debt-free, fully furnished, ADA compliant home in Fresno, Texas on December 12, 2013. The Texas Sentinels Foundation partnered once again with a Bank of America to make a dream come true just in time for Christmas for SGT Segura who was severely wounded in Afghanistan after multiple deployments. SGT Segura has endured numerous surgeries and more than 24 months of rehabilitation and continues to struggle with the daily tasks of life. Their new 3,400 SF house is ADA compliant and even comes equipped with a chairlift for the two story home.

RE/MAX Fine Properties of Sugar Land, Texas served as the Home Team Leaders and volunteered their resources and time to raise the funds for the “Home for the Holidays 2013” for SGT Segura. Nimesh and Minesh Patel, owners of RE/MAX Fine Properties stated “We are thrilled to be a part of the Texas Sentinels Foundation home presentations to wounded warriors. Our office, our families and the community are so honored and proud to have helped give  a beautiful and permanent home to Jorge and Stefani Segura. This wounded Marine has earned the respect and love of everyone on the team”.

Richard and Jeanne Filip, Co-Founders of the Texas Sentinels Foundation, told the crowd assembled outside the home of the many surprises that were in store for SGT Segura and his family. CenterPoint Energy representative Steve Landrum added to the holiday surprises for the Segura’s by announcing that the “Powering Heroes” committee had selected them to receive a new Generac generator. The natural gas generator allows for 24 hour standby power to the home ensuring comfort and protection to the family.  The “Powering Heroes” dealers include Generator Power Systems- Fish Electric; Generator Super Center; Quality Generators and Personalized Power Systems.

And then the Fluor Corporation added the final surprises to the emotionally filled day for Jorge, Stefani, Samantha, Olivia and new baby Segura (May 2014). John Dempsey Jr, Fluor Senior Vice President and Kishia Haberle, Fluor Sourcing Director surprised the Segura’s as their Secret Santas. Kishia and John announced that with the help of jolly old Saint Nick, Fluor had decorated the house inside and out for Christmas. When the Segura’s walked inside they broke down in tears at the sight of the beautiful Christmas tree, holiday wreath, stockings hung over the fireplace and the personalized ornaments glistening on the tree. Fluor stocked the kitchen, bathrooms and loaded gifts under the tree. The Segura’s backyard was also outfitted with a new picnic table and deluxe gas grill. But they weren’t done yet with the holiday surprises- Fluor Secret Santas completely decorated and furnished a beautiful teddy bear themed nursery for the newest addition to the Segura family. The baby will make HER debut in May 2014.

The Segura Family will never be without power thanks to the Powering Heroes program

The afternoon festivities culminated with the Star-Tex Title Company and RE/MAX Fine Property elves serving lunch, refreshments and holiday cheers to the well wishers and neighbors. It truly will be a Merry Christmas for Marine SGT Jorge Segura and his family!
