Texas Sentinels Foundation

Andrew Valadez

The Texas Sentinels Foundation invited the community to the home presentation ceremony  for SSG Valadez and his family.  On June 7, 2016, Valadez was surprised by receiving the keys to his new  100% debt-free, mortgage-free, and fully furnished  3 bedroom home in appreciation for his tireless service to our nation after serving in the Army for more than 13 years and completing 3 combat tours in Iraq.

Valadez, a Cavalry Scout, was severely injured by an IED blast while on a route reconnaissance mission in 2004. After his recovery,  Valadez engaged in combat operations in Abu Ghraib, Najaf, Babil, Taji as well as the second battle of Fallujah, commonly known as Operation Phantom Fury through 2010. It was during these combat operations Valadez was hit by 6 more IED blasts. Andrew suffered from severe injuries to his head, neck, torso, back, legs and eyes. After months of recovery and rehabilitation, it was determined that his combat injuries would end his career in the Army.

Andrew and his wife Emily have two young sons who are thoroughly enjoying all that their new community offers, from fishing to swimming, these children can grow up in the safety and security of their new TSF home. “Home ownership has been and continues to be a dream for so many military combat wounded families. Thanks to our wonderful TSF donors for their exceptional support, we have once again made this dream a reality for a deserving military family. Our military families do so much for all of us and we are thrilled to be giving a little sense of security back to them” declared Richard Filip, Co-Founder of the Texas Sentinels Foundation.

Missouri City Mayor Pro Tem,  Don Smith, a military veteran, welcomed the Valadez family to his city and joined the family as they toured their new fully furnished home for the first time. Mayor Allen Own sent his best wishes and offered a huge thank you to the Texas Sentinels Foundation for their ongoing contribution of TSF  homes and TSF Life Scholarships for deserving combat wounded veterans throughout the state of Texas.
